Clément Louis (b. 1990) is a Paris-based visual artist from a working-class background in northern France. Initially a photographer, he turned to painting in 2020, using the body as a space of tension, desire, fragility, and resistance. His work depicts bodies in intimate, domestic settings, exploring what the body carries politically and emotionally, without explicit narrative.
His work has been shown in Paris and Marseille, including the solo show “Acts of Love” at Double V Gallery, Nuit Blanche at CAC Le Kiosque, and “Love Stories,” a series of fifteen portraits of queer couples. His practice echoes a lineage of bodily tension from Francis Bacon to Egon Schiele to Saint Sebastian, reimagined in contemporary, domestic scenes.
